The Division 2 PC Controls and Keybindings

Default PC controls use M for map, T for going rogue, Tab for inventory, Space for cover, and 1–4 for skills. All keybindings are fully remappable in Settings under Controls.

Movement and Combat

PC controls in The Division 2 follow standard third-person shooter conventions with mouse aim and keyboard movement. WASD handles directional movement with W forward, A strafe left, S backward, and D strafe right. Mouse movement controls camera and aim direction independently from movement keys, enabling standard strafe-shooting techniques essential for Dark Zone and Conflict PvP encounters.

Left mouse button fires your equipped weapon. Right mouse button activates aim-down-sights for precision shooting with reduced movement speed and improved accuracy. Middle mouse button or the default scroll wheel toggles between first and third person camera perspectives. Most PvE and PvP players remain in third person for superior situational awareness, but first person helps with certain long-range engagements.

Space bar takes cover at the nearest valid cover object. Cover is fundamental to Division 2 combat design because exposed agents receive increased damage and cannot regenerate armor effectively during sustained fire. Tap Space near a cover object to snap into cover. Hold Space while moving toward low cover to vault. While in cover, lean left with Q and lean right with E by default to expose minimal body surface while firing.

Left Shift sprints while out of cover, consuming stamina that regenerates when you stop sprinting. Sprinting in the Dark Zone increases your noise signature on enemy radar and other players directional indicators, making stealth extraction approaches harder. Control key performs a combat roll or dodge when not in cover, providing invulnerability frames during the animation at the cost of positioning.

R reloads your current weapon. F interacts with objects, doors, loot containers, and extraction ropes. G throws grenades or deploys your equipped throwable skill depending on context. V performs a melee attack useful for finishing downed enemies and breaking weak points on heavy armor hostiles during PvE landmark encounters.

Dark Zone Controls

Dark Zone controls extend the standard PC layout with rogue-specific bindings critical for Year 8 Season 2 ruleset variants. T toggles rogue status in Classic and Balanced Dark Zones. Press T once to go rogue, making you hostile to other non-rogue agents and enabling PvP damage against them. Press T again or wait for the rogue timer to expire to return to normal status. In Toxic Dark Zone, T has no function because PvP is disabled entirely.

The Dark Zone map accessed with M displays landmarks, contamination zones, extraction points, and Safe Houses with zone-specific overlays. Landmarks show completion status and respawn timers. Extraction points display helicopter arrival schedules when you are carrying contaminated loot requiring extraction.

X calls for an extraction helicopter when standing in an active extraction zone while carrying contaminated items such as sample cannisters or stabilization agents. Hold X to confirm extraction call. Other agents in the area receive notification of your extraction attempt, creating PvP tension in Classic and Balanced zones.

The Group Rogue toggle in Classic Dark Zone allows entire groups to go rogue simultaneously with a group leader confirmation. This prevents mixed rogue status within a coordinated team. Coordinate rogue status before engaging other player groups to avoid friendly fire confusion.

Toxic Dark Zone removes rogue mechanics entirely but retains extraction controls. Focus on landmark farming routes using M for navigation, F for looting chests, and X for extraction when carrying contaminated sample cannisters. Safe Houses accessed through map waypoints freeze toxicity accumulation, making map navigation with M essential for Toxic DZ session planning.

Skills and Gear

Number keys 1 through 4 activate your equipped skills in order from left to right on the skill bar. Skill 1 typically holds your primary utility such as the Reinforcer Chem Launcher or Assault Turret. Skill 2 holds secondary utility such as the Striker Drone or Hive. Skill 3 and 4 hold additional skills or specializations depending on your build configuration.

Long-press a skill key to enter targeting mode for skills requiring manual placement such as the Chem Launcher, Firefly, or Seeker Mines. Release the key to confirm placement at the cursor location. Quick-tap deploys skills at your agent position or nearest valid auto-target for skills like the Assault Turret.

G deploys your equipped grenade type cycling through available grenade classes in your inventory. Shift-G or the secondary grenade binding switches grenade type before deployment. The Caduceus support build frequently pairs Chem Launcher heal bursts with standard fragmentation grenades for crowd control.

Z activates your equipped Signature Weapon when playing specializations that grant them, such as the Crossbow, Grenade Launcher, or Survivalist weapons. Signature ammo regenerates over time and does not use standard ammunition pools.

Quick inventory access during combat uses the weapon swap wheel bound to default keys for primary and secondary weapon switching. Mouse wheel up and down or dedicated number keys for weapon slots toggle between your primary assault rifle, secondary SMG or sidearm, and sidearm pistol without opening the full Tab inventory screen.

Remapping Recommendations

The Division 2 supports full keybinding remapping through Settings, Controls, and Customize Controls. Every action listed in the controls menu can be rebound to any keyboard key or mouse button. Remapping persists per-account and syncs across sessions but not across platforms.

Competitive PvP and Dark Zone players commonly remap cover from Space to a mouse side button to maintain movement on WASD while snapping to cover without thumb reach. Sprint on Left Shift is often moved to a mouse button for the same reason, enabling permanent sprint without pinky strain during long Toxic DZ farming sessions.

Skill keys 1 through 4 work well on keyboard for most players, but healers running Caduceus support builds sometimes move Skill 1 to a mouse side button for faster Chem Launcher deployment during intense landmark fights where keyboard reach delays healing bursts.

Map on M and Inventory on Tab are deeply muscle-memorized for most veterans and rarely benefit from remapping. However, players migrating from console may prefer map on a mouse button and inventory on I for one-handed navigation habits carried from controller layouts.

Always test remapped bindings in a Safe House shooting range before entering Dark Zone or missions. Misbound extraction on X or rogue toggle on T during a Toxic DZ farming run carrying multiple sample cannisters can cost significant progress. The Settings menu includes a Reset to Default option if remapping creates conflicts.
